  • What's New A commentary on our newest reviews, quotes, trivia and anything else we feel like jabbering on about.

  • Movie Reviews that pull no punches and are occasionally funny, sometimes intelligent and, hopefully, up-to-date. Look for them over there -->

  • Movie Quotes that range from easy enough to make you think you're smart and quotes that are hard enough to find out if you really are.

  • Movie Trivia to pass the time, quietly feed your movie/trivia jones and prepare for the hottest new game show, "Are You Smarter Than a Wise-Ass Internet Movie guy"

  • Maniacal Lists If you still haven't gotten enough of my arrogant opinions and deity-like diatribes, check out MMM lists for ratings and opinions on whatever I feel like talking about. It's usually movies but you never know.

  • Pay Attention!

*, ½, or none: You are better off watching Mash re-runs. 1 to 15%

*½ : Very weak: Has some redeeming qualities – might please some viewers. 16-30%

** : Weak: Fans of the genre might enjoy it, or it may have impressive elements offset by weaker ones. 31-45%

** ½ : Borderline: Worth watching on TV, or if you are a fan of the genre. 45-55%

*** : Acceptable: Many fans will enjoy it, despite flaws, particularly genre fans.
    56-65%

*** ½ : Good: no masterpiece, but still a well done flick worth seeing. 66-75%

**** : Very good: No glaring flaws. Check it out. Scores around 76-85%

****½ : Exceptional, top 86-95%: See it. Even if it is not your usual taste, you will probably enjoy it.

***** : Top of the heap: These are movies that I consider to be in the top 5%; among the very best.

If it seems like my ratings are rather high, that’s because I am more likely to see, and review, movies that I figure I’ll like. As fun as it is to trash really bad movies, I can’t take too many of them. I hope you forgive me.

Starring: I guess you can figure this out – the cast.

Director: For those who don’t already, pay attention to the director, you may want to start. If you find you enjoy a director, whose work you enjoy, it becomes that much easier to pick movies that you will like.

    The Text

Act1- Paragraph one is where I gave a kind of tagline intro, give an overall opinion of the movie and its various elements, like direction, story and performances. You might even find make a joke or an interesting fact. You never know.

Act 2- Paragraph two introduces the characters and gives a more detailed synopsis, but only of Act one (the first 30 mins of most movies, in which the story and main characters are introduced), so that surprises are ruined. If I plan to give info that might give away later elements of the story, I warn the reader in paragraph one.

Act 3- Paragraph three. The Wrap-up. I reiterate my opinion succinctly. I make a guess (I’m a good guesser) about who is most likely to enjoy this movie and I may try to give some comparisons to make it easier to decide if its for you.

Quotes section: Some movies will have one or more quotes here, just for your interest. A word of warning, however. I choose quotes that are interesting, memorable or really capture something about the film, but I don’t pay any attention to whether, or not, the quotes reveal anything beyond Act 1, so if you are concerned about that, it’s better to skip this section until you have seen the movie.

FYI – MMM reserves the right to screw with all, some or none of what was just said above.
